Entry Info

Does Tobacco Road Relay have an entry fee?

Yes, the Tobacco Road Relay does have an entry fee.  The Entry Fee is $555/team (+ 5% online processing fee).

Who pays the entry fee?

The team captain will pay the entry fee when completing the team's entry.

What are the steps to Team Entry?

  1. The team captain will click the "Sign Up" button on our website page.
  2. The team captain will enter the team information and his/her personal information as a member of the team.
  3. The team captain will pay the entry fee at the time of team entry.
  4. The team captain will receive a confirmation email and a hardy "Welcome".
  5. The team captain will share the team name and password with his/her teammates and invite them to register.
  6. The team member will click the "Sign Up" button for "Team Member Registration".

Are there important dates related to the team entry?

Absolutely...we live in a world filled with deadlines.

  • Sunday, April 2, 2023: Last day for team entry, last day for team member registration, last day to update shirt sizes, last day to change team name, last day to adjust team seed.
  • Monday, April 3 thru race date: team members can be added and deleted.  To delete a runner the Captain will sign-in to their team account and delete the runner ($0 fee).  When Team Members register after April 2 a $15 late fee will be applied at the time of registration.

Can we get creative with our Team Name?

We absolutely love creativity.  Albert Einstein said "creativity is intelligence having fun".  However, please keep your creativity tasteful.  The Tobacco Road Relay and your team name will be visible in the communities through which we run, along the greenways and in the exchange zone parking lots of primary schools, churches, businesses and public parks.  It will be wonderful to be welcomed back next year.

Team Seed:

Do you tend to exaggerate your athletic prowess or are you just too humble?  For your team seed, we just want honesty... please, Please...PLEASE...submit an accurate estimate of your team's average 10K for an average 10K.  We use your team seed to set start times so all teams will have a finish between 3pm and 8pm.  Our exchange zone support structure has set times and we want all teams to successfully pass through this structure unscathed.  Start times aren't necessarily sequential...start times are set to keep a balanced spread along the course and in the exchange zones.  If you run faster than your team seed, you may outpace our support structure and be held at one of the exchange zones.  If you run considerably slower than your team seed, you run the risk of falling behind our support structure and may have to skip a leg or two to be brought back into the race.

Team Categories:

All teams will run the 75 miles from start to finish, but not all teams will be alike.  The team captain will be asked to select a team category at the time of Team Entry.

  • Open (2-6 runners, any combination of male/female)
  • Open Women (2-6 runners, all female)
  • Open Mixed (2-6 runners, 50% or more female)
  • Master (2-6 runners, all team members 40 and older, any combination of male/female)
  • Master Women (2-6 runners, all team members 40 and older, all female)
  • Master Mixed (2-6 runners, all team members 40 and older, 50% or more female)
  • Random (2-6 runners, any combination of male/female, runners could run in any sequence)

What is Tobacco Road Relay's refund policy?

We want Tobacco Road Relay to be challenging, competitive, rewarding and fun. However, there are two areas where we need to be serious: runner safety and planning.  To effectively plan, entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to another year.  If the course is changed, if the race time is changed or if the race is cancelled due to circumstances beyond race management control, including, but not limited to, act of nature, severe weather, pandemic, war or act of terrorism there are no refunds or transfers to subsequent years.
